EI professionals have conducted comprehensive Environmental Compliance Audits nationwide. These Audits are a valuable management tool for identifying and responding to areas of potential liability with respect to environmental regulations, notification, emergency planning requirements and occupational safety and health standards.
First, EI will prepare a Pre-Audit questionnaire to be distributed to individual sites to characterize the site with regard to:
- The size of site and operation,
- Type and configuration of the site and operation (i.e. individual/multiple unit, simple cycle, combined cycle, co-generation, utility),
- The fuel type used and fuel source,
- The locale/jurisdiction (state, local, Tribal)
- The affiliation of the subject operation to other activities located on site
- Existing permits, waste streams, and hazardous materials used on site
Next, EI will review applicability of requirements for existing operations/activities at subject site and prepare an audit protocol and checklist to address specific site activities. Section III presents a detailed description of the regulations and associated requirements EI would review for applicability to the subject. The audit protocol may include the following topics:
- Air Pollution Control
- Water Pollution Control
- Non-hazardous Waste Management
- Hazardous Waste Management
- CERCLA/SARA
- Spill Control and Response
- Hazardous Materials Management
- Emergency Planning and Community Right to Know
- Storage Tank Management
- Drinking Water Management
- PCB Management
- Pesticides Management
EI will then prepare a schedule for site visits for facilities in like geographic and jurisdictional areas. EI will provide a draft of this schedule to the client for review and approval. EI will conduct the site visits according to the approved schedule. |
