Research Triangle Park, NC - Bill Taylor, CSP, Principal Safety Scientist and recent addition to The EI Group, Inc. (EI), was published in the July edition of Professional Safety, a monthly publication of the American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE). Taylor’s article, which focuses on the dangers associated with Confined Spaces, encourages proactive workplace safety programs, which not only provide their employees the peace of mind of having a safe work environment, but can prevent dangerous consequences and save lives. |
OSHA's Confined Space Standard (PRCS, 1910.146), introduced in 1993, is one of the most difficult to comprehend and likely the hardest with which to comply. Taylor addresses nine misconceptions in his article, ranging from proper signage and permitting to confined space entry and rescue. “Many employers have excellent confined space systems, but many more are dangerously non-compliant and are placing workers at risk,” says Taylor.
