(EI) is pleased to announce that Phil C. Fincher, CIH, CSP, has been appointed to the Board for Asbestos, Lead and Home Inspectors of the Virginia Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation (DPOR).  Mr. Fincher, who was appointed to a 4-year term by Virginia Governor, Timothy M. Kaine, will be representing training providers in Virginia and was recently sworn in by the Secretary of the Commonwealth.  Phil Fincher is a Virginia Tech alumnus and currently serves as Manager of Virginia Operations for The EI Group.  Mr. Fincher was additionally selected to two subcommittees on the Board in an effort to develop (1) regulations for mold assessment protocol and (2) guidelines for the EPA’s recently ammended Lead Renovation, Repair and Painting Rule within the Commonwealth of Virginia. Virginia’s licensing Board for Asbestos, Lead and Home Inspectors was created by the General Assembly in 1993 to oversee asbestos licensing regulations.  It was expanded in 1994 to include lead-based paint activities licensing, and again in 2001 to include home inspector certification.  The 2009 General Assembly directed the Board to develop a licensure program for mold remediators and inspectors, effective in 2011. “Phil’s appointment to the Board for Asbestos, Lead and Home Inspectors is a tremendous testament to his respected position in the regulatory community,” explains Greg Lathan, the CEO and founder of The EI Group. “We are honored to have him represent our organization in such an important role.” About The EI Group, Inc. - The EI Group, Inc.
