The EI Group Teams with Builders of Hope – Offers Free Lead Clearances

Research Triangle Park, NC - The EI Group, Inc. is proud to announce its recent partnership with Builders of Hope, Inc. The locally based environmental consulting firm has committed to making a real difference in the State Street Village development, a new 25-home “green” subdivision downtown, developed by the City of Raleigh. The EI Group’s industrial hygiene staff will be conducting pre-occupancy lead-based paint clearances on these homes at no cost in an effort to positively impact the Raleigh community.
Builders of Hope, Inc. is a Triangle based, non-profit organization that rescues houses from demolition, rehabilitates them and sells them at cost to families and individuals who earn below the median income. Their unique solution involves transporting “rescued homes” to a new subdivision, renovating them and subsequently selling them to working families that might not otherwise qualify for ownership. Ensuring that the homes are lead free is important to Builders of Hope’s Extreme Green Rehabilitation model and to the safety of the families who will be living in the community. “Over 300,000 children under the age of 5 are estimated to have elevated blood lead levels – which can irreversibly affect brain and nervous system development,” explains Nancy Murray, the CEO and founder of Builders of Hope. “Almost every home we rehabilitate previously contained lead-based materials, so the service The EI Group is providing will have a tremendous positive impact on the health and quality of life of the children moving into our homes.”
